THE BARROWS MAN

A SNIPE HUNT

A SNIPE HUNT

"The Barrows Man" (2004, shooting) - Mysterious objects turn up in yards all over Hillplains, NC. The items appear to be fashioned by human hands, but like the infamous "crop circles", the curious things are always left in the dead of night, with no trace of their origin. Several locals, determined to solve the mystery, apprehend the culprit, but the reasoning behind his actions lead to an even greater enlightening. How does all of this link to the local legend of the Barrows Man, and the thing's seeming return? To save their town and loved ones, these locals must persuade a suspected werewolf to aid their cause, for only the supernatural can combat this supernatural force. But will the lycanthrope help the humans - those who have persecuted his kind with such zeal over the centuries? It's a tale of danger, betrayal, mystery and a history lesson these Hillplainsians will take to their graves - which might not be a long time coming.

"A Snipe Hunt" (shooting begins Fall 2004) - A practical joke can go way too far - especially when the last laugh is made by something other than human.

What do you do when you're left "holding the bag," alone in the woods at night, only to find your "friends" have unwittingly left you in the domain of an evil thing? Just when the tricksters in our tale come to regret their actions, as their plans go horribly awry, the whole town of Hillplains, NC, must suffer from the evil that has been awakened.

Meanwhile, a photographer's Sasquatch search in Toptown, NC, leads him to Hillplains - but is the creature he finds really the type of cryptid he was searching for?

[The long-held, now almost dead, tradition of "snipe" hunting is visited in this tale of terror. For those unfamiliar with the prank, snipe hunting happens when people take a (usually) young boy with them to the woods to hunt "snipe". The boy is given a sack and is usually told to stand in a ditch. The boy is told to keep the bag open until the other hunter(s) flush a snipe into the sack. This usually occurs around dark - the time snipe are most likely to be about - so the boy is given a flashlight, in addition to the bag. The older hunter(s) leave the boy alone in the woods until he either returns home on his own or the others go find him - after a few hours pass. Of course, there really is a type of bird named "snipe". They have long, thin bills, and are like a sandpiper.]

"The Hillplains Chronicles" (shooting begins 2004/2005) - Several short stories bring to life the terror from the town of Hillplains, NC. The town's only newspaper - The Hillplains Chronicles - has recounted many eerie events over the years. Now you can see for yourself why Hillplains is a bad place to live, but a haven for dying.

The tales include "Another Hitchhiker", "Sssnaked" and "The Death Of Blesseder Smith", with more to be announced.
